Hi, I am Peter Lloyd and my love affair with spirulina started in 2004 when I was introduced to it during a visit to Auroville – the international community that produces this spirulina. As a vegan, I was looking for ways to increase my protein intake and spirulina was an easy way for me to do so. I especially liked the crunchy variety and added it to everything from breakfast cereal, salads, smoothies and even grabbing a handful as a snack. I find its seaweedy taste delicious!
Selling spirulina made sense for me as I truly believe this product deserves a wide audience – I wanted to offer this product that has benefited me so much to others. I also really appreciated the ethical conditions under which this spirulina is grown – the fact that many rural women from low income backgrounds benefit from a dignified, local livelihood makes this product stand apart.
I was the leading importer for my then home in Hong Kong as well as for Bali, and then moved to and lived on the actual spirulina farm in Auroville, India for my first 6 months of a 5 year stay. I have had an Australian Import License since 2009 and am now based in Australia on the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
